Youths are more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and STIs

South Asia Radio Club (SARC) participated at the AIDS rally With a view to strengthening the campaign to combat HIV/AIDS and to create mass awareness, the World AIDS Day was observed in the Bangladesh 1 December-2008 as elsewhere across the globe. National AIDS/STD Programme (NASP), Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare observed the day in a befitting manner with the theme 'Lead-Empower-Deliver.' A rally began from the east end of Dhaka Manik Mia Avenue in front of the National Parliament and ended at Bangladesh China Friendship Conference Centre (BCFCC). Stakeholders from government, non- government, national, international organizations, donor agencies and South Asia Radio Club (SARC) participated at the rally. At the inaugural ceremony of the programmes at the BCFCC, Dr Ferdous Alam Shibib, programme manager of NASP, delivered the welcome speech while Dr Mohammad Ishaque Khan, line director of NASP, presented the keynote paper. Country Director of Save the Children USA Kelland Stevenson and WHO representative to Bangladesh Dr Duangvadee Sungkhobol were present as special guests. Speaking as the chief guest, Secretary to the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare AMM Nasir Uddin said that the youths are more vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and STIs and to disseminate information on HIV/AIDS and STI among the youth and adolescent people, the role of media is very important. He urged the journalists and different stakeholders, including professional bodies, association leaders, religious leaders, policymakers and development partners to come forward in preventing HIV infection in Bangladesh. “The HIV infected new cases during this year was found 288 while new AIDS cases was 111 and total death case was 42," he said adding that the overall infection and AIDS cases is low this year compared to that of last year. Highlighting different steps of the government in combating HIV/AIDS, Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, additional secretary and chairperson of the World AIDS Day 2008 programme, said, “We are working together to eliminate stigma and discrimination against people living with HIV and AIDS.” South Asia Radio Club (SARC) Dhaka Branch organized a rally and discussion to mark the day. বেতারের শিক্ষা, সাহিত্য ও সংস্কৃতির উন্নয়নে বিভিন্ন কার্যক্রম গ্রহণ করা।

বাংলাদেশের সর্বত্র অঞ্চলভিত্তিক শ্রোতা ও বিভিন্ন জরিপের মাধ্যমে এবং ক্যাম্পেইনের মাধ্যমে বেতারের শ্রোতা সংখ্যা বাড়ানো।

শিক্ষা, সাহিত্য, সংস্কৃতি, সমাজসেবা প্রভৃতি ক্ষেত্রে অবিস্মরণীয় ব্যক্তিদের জীবনী ও তাদের সৃষ্টিকর্ম সম্পর্কে বিভিন্ন অনুষ্ঠানের মাধ্যমে তুলে ধরা এবং সংবর্ধনা দেওয়া।

বাঙ্গালীর অহঙ্কার মুক্তিযুদ্ধে বেতার কেন্দ্রের ভূমিকা তুলে ধরা।

বেতারের শিল্প, সাহিত্য, সংস্কৃতি তথা সার্বিক উন্নয়নে সেমিনার, সিম্পোজিয়াম, মেলা, প্রদর্শনী, লোকজ মেলার আয়োজন করা।

বেতার ডিএক্সীং কর্মকান্ডে নিয়োজিত ব্যক্তিদের প্রতিভা বিকাশ ও উন্নয়নে সাহায্য করা।

নবীণ শ্রোতাদের বেতারে চিঠিপত্র লেখা, রিসেপশন রিপোর্ট লেখা, মনিটরিং রিপোর্ট লেখা, প্রতিবেদন লেখা, মতামত লেখার কৌশল ও নিয়মাবলী সম্পর্কে প্রশিক্ষণ কর্মশালার আয়োজন করা এবং নতুন নতুন ডিএক্সার সৃষ্টি করা।

বাৎসরিক শ্রোতাজরিপ করে শ্রোতা সম্মেলনের আয়োজন করা।

প্রতিষ্ঠানের লক্ষ্য অর্জনে বুলেটিন, সাময়িকী, পত্রিকা, ম্যাগাজিন ইত্যাদি প্রকাশ করা।

বিভিন্ন শিক্ষা প্রতিষ্ঠানে জ্ঞানের উন্মেষ ঘটানোর জন্য বিভিন্ন কুইজ, রচনা, বই পড়া, কবিতা লেখা, বিতর্ক প্রতিযোগিতা এবং সৃজনশীল মেধা বিকাশের জন্য চিত্রাংকন, ক্রীড়া, সংগীত, নৃত্য, অভিনয় ইত্যাদি প্রতিযোগিতার আয়োজন করা।

সামাজিক বা বিভিন্ন মানবসেবা বা জনকল্যাণমূলক কর্মকান্ডে অংশগ্রহণ নিশ্চিত করা, যেমন- সেচ্চায় রক্তদান, গণশিক্ষা, নারী ও শিশু শিক্ষা, পরিবার পরিকল্পনা ও স্বাস্থ্যসেবা, স্কাউটিং, বিভিন্ন দূর্যোগপূর্ণ এলাকায় ত্রাণ সামগ্রী বিতরণ, সুবিধাবঞ্চিত শিশুদের জন্মনিবন্ধন করণ এবং সনদপত্র বিতরণে সহযোগিতা করা,  বৃক্ষরোপন, গণসচেতনতামূলক কর্যক্রম যেমন- এইচআইভি/এইডস প্রতিরোধ, এসিড নিক্ষেপ প্রতিরোধ, যৌতুক প্রথা প্রতিরোধ, বাল্যবিবাহ প্রতিরোধ, নারী ও শিশু পাচার প্রতিরোধ, ঝুকিঁপূর্ণ শিশুশ্রম বন্ধ, ধূমপান ও মাদক বিরাধী প্রচারনা, পরিবেশ রক্ষা ইত্যাদি।

এছাড়া প্রতিষ্ঠানের উদ্যোগে বিভিন্ন জাতীয় ও আন্তর্জাতিক দিবস পালন করা, যেমন- ২ জানুয়ারি বিশ্ব জনসংখ্যা নিয়ন্ত্রন দিবস, ১৩ ফেব্রুয়ারি বিশ্ব বেতার দিবস, ২১শে ফেব্রুয়ারি আন্তর্জাতিক মাতৃভাষা দিবস, ৮ই মার্চ আন্তর্জাতিক নারী দিবস, ২৬শে মার্চ বাংলাদেশের মহান স্বাধীনতা ও জাতীয় দিবস, ৭ এপ্রিল বিশ্ব স্বাস্থ্য দিবস, ১লা মে বিশ্ব শ্রমিক দিবস, ১৫ই মে আন্তর্জাতিক পরিবার দিবস, ২৬শে মে বিশ্ব তামাকমুক্ত দিবস, ২৮শে মে নিরাপদ মাতৃত্ব দিবস, ৫ জুন বিশ্ব পরিবেশ দিবস, ১১ জুলাই বিশ্ব জনসংখ্যা দিবস, ৫ সেপ্টেম্বর আন্তর্জাতিক শান্তি দিবস, ৮ সেপ্টেম্বর আন্তর্জাতিক স্বাক্ষরতা দিবস, অক্টোবর মাসের প্রথম সোমবার বিশ্ব শিশু দিবস, ২৫ নভেম্বর আন্তর্জাতিক নারী নির্যাতন প্রতিবাদ দিবস, ১ ডিসেম্বর বিশ্ব এইডস দিবস, ১০ ডিসেম্বর মানবাধিকার দিবস এবং ১৬ ডিসেম্বর বাংলাদেশের মহান বিজয় দিবস ছাড়াও অন্যান্য ধর্মীয় ও জাতীয় উৎসব পালন করা ইত্যাদি।
