VOA PHOTO CONTEST entries swamp judges.
VOA's Photo Contest judges have been carefully reviewing the more than 4,500 photo entries received in this year's contest. While we hoped to have a winner by April 1st, your overwhelming response to the contest has caused us to push that date back. April 15th has been set as the new date for selecting a winner. An announcement should be made that same week.
The 12 judges have found it a real challenge to eliminate many wonderful photos on their way to selecting the very best. The quality of this year's entries has been extraordinary. From beautiful scenery to touching character studies, the photos display very high skill levels.
As photographers, you have captured a wide range of emotions from your everyday life. They exhibit the diversity one would expect from a world-wide audience. The photos have included many serious subjects depicting the sorrows and indignities of life. A few of them express outrage with injustice, but others are playful. We are pleased to see so many personal photos of smiling friends and family members expressed your love in a touching way.
So how does one choose one photo that is better than all the rest? That's exactly the dilema faced by our judging panel. It won't be an easy task.
View just some of the photos below to see for yourself what we are talking about.
