South Asia Radio Club (SARC) celebrated the 79th anniversary of Voice of Vietnam (VOV), the state broadcaster of Vietnam, in Bangladesh.
Radio Voice of Vietnam (VOV) started broadcasting from Dalat on September 7, just 1 week after the declaration of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam on September 2, 1945 with the declaration "This is the Voice of Vietnam, broadcasting from Hanoi, the capital of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam." During the Vietnam War, Radio Hanoi operated as a propaganda tool of North Vietnam. In August 1968, Voice of Vietnam commenced shortwave broadcasts for Vietnamese living abroad.
On Friday (13 September 2024) 79th anniversary celebration of VOV was organized at Sylhet Zindabazar at 4:00 PM. South Asia Radio Club (SARC) Bangladesh Founder Chairman and Radio Activist Didarul Iqbal presided over the event as the Chief Guest was D. Mir Shah Alam, former Director of Bangladesh Betar (state broadcaster of Bangladesh) and Chief Advisor of South Asia Radio Club (SARC) Bangladesh.
At that time were present, South Asia Radio Club (SARC)- Sylhet District Unit Adviser and Sylhet Metropolitan Law College Principal Dr. Md. Shahidul Islam Advocate, Sylhet Sadar Lakkatura Tea Garden Unit President Bikrom Roy and General Secretary Md. Jalal Uddin, Shahparan Unit General Secretary Md. Moynul Haque and Member Fahad Haque, Sylhet City Unit President and CP of Rotary Club of Sylhet Keane Bridge Md. Abdul Wadud Al Mamun and Companiganj Upazila Unit President Iqbal Hossain.
In the event, all the speakers congratulated to all the officials, staff and audience of Voice of Vietnam (VOV). Besides, it is proposed to start broadcasting Bengali programs from Voice of Vietnam (VOV) along with other languages, so that friendly relations between Bangladesh and Vietnam can be strengthened through Radio. The event commemorated the founding of VOV and reviewed various programmes. At the end, the anniversary was celebrated by cutting the cake.
